Background
After a series of workshops which combined elements of role-play, game structure, and performance with added audience participation, the Drum Game was born. Designed for small groups of women to watch and perform, it evolved as a way of exploring some of the situations that had arisen in the participants’ lives.
With hindsight, it used techniques that were later introduced to this country by Augusto Boal – called Forum Theatre, but the Drum Game was created in 1984, years before Forum Theatre arrived in the UK.
